Scheffler Winner of Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation

BRADENTON, Fla. – Scottie Scheffler of Texas has been named the Division I recipient of the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation.

Previously named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and to the All-Big 12 First Team, Scheffler won back-to-back tournaments after claiming medalist honors at the Western Intercollegiate and Big 12 Championship. He recorded an additional five top-10 finishes on the season. Scheffler was the only Texas golfer to compete in every event for the team this season and led the Longhorns with 21 under-par rounds.

Texas teammate Doug Ghim, USF’s Claudio Correa, Sean Crocker of Southern California, and Wake Forrest’s Will Zalatoris joined Scheffler on the All-Freshmen Team.
