Salvanera named NJCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award Recipient

NORMAN, Okla. — Gabriel Salvanera of South Mountain has been named the recipient of the 2020 NJCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award.

Salvanera posted a scoring average of 69.33 over the 2019-20 season, ranking 1st across NJCAA Division II. The Freshman earned a pair of individual victories and finished inside the top-five in his other six starts during the year

Salvanera capped off his impressive Freshman campaign by being named to the NJCAA PING All-West Region team as well as earning NJCAA Division II PING First Team All-America honors.

Ryan MacPherson of South Mountain, Trey Fessler of Mesa, Scott O’Brien of Parkland and Chad Homan of Walters State all joined Salvanera on the NJCAA Division II All-Freshman Team.
