The Concession Golf Club to Host 2012 Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship

NORMAN, Okla. – The 2012 Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship will be held March 18-20 at The Concession Golf Club outside Sarasota, Fla. South Florida will serve as the event’s host institution.

The Concession Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course designed in association with Tony Jacklin, was named “Best New Private Course of 2006” by Golf Digest magazine. It holds one of the highest Course and Slope Ratings by the United States Golf Association. The 7,470-yard, par 72 layout, is set on 520 acres of ruggedly pristine land dotted with massive oaks and majestic pines. It runs three miles from tip to tip.

Complementing the championship golf course is one of the world’s largest private practice areas, recognized by Golf Digest as one of the “75 Best Practice Areas in the United States.” The vast 23-acre practice facility features two driving ranges, one of which includes an elevated tee area, a 10,000 square-foot flat and undulating putting green and a 14,000 square-foot flat and undulating chipping green. Both the putting and chipping greens offer several bunkers, giving players the opportunity to recreate every shot on the golf course.

“We are extremely proud to partner with University of South Florida to bring an event of this stature to the Sarasota area,” said Bruce Cassidy Jr., general manager of The Concession Golf Club. “The Concession offers many risk/reward opportunities. It will be exciting to see the best Division I collegiate golfers tackle the course in match play.”
