West Florida Captures Top Spot in Precept Coaches Poll

Former No. 1 Pfeiffer falls to eighth

West Florida received 12 of the 20 first-place votes cast in the Precept Division II Coaches Poll to move into its No. 1 ranking. The only team to receive multiple No. 1 votes, West Florida moved up from third. Pfeiffer, who had spent the previous two polls of the spring in the top spot, fell seven spots to No. 8.

 

Rollins College moved up for the second-straight ranking, climbing form sixth to second. Cal State-Stanislaus comes in at No. 3 with South Carolina-Aiken at fourth and Cal State-Bakersfield at No. 5. All teams in the top five received a first-place vote, as did No. 11 Chico State, No. 12 Colorado-Colorado Springs, No. 17 Abilene Christian and unranked Gannon.

 

Cal-Davis fell from second to sixth, while Francis Marion moved up four spots to seventh. Florida Southern remained at No. 9 and was followed by North Alabama. Kennesaw State came in at No. 13 for consecutive polls. Armstrong Atlantic, who made the biggest move in the poll, jumped from No. 20 to No. 14. Grand Canyon and Western Washington came in at Nos. 15 and 16, respectively, and Central Oklahoma fell one spot to No. 18. Delta State and Drury tied at No. 19. Central Arkansas, Cameron, Georgia College & State University, Cal state-San Bernardino and Barton College round out the top 25.

 

To vote in the Precept Coaches Poll, a coach must be a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The next Precept Division II Coaches poll will be released May 14.
