GCAA Announces 2011 Academic National Champions

NORMAN, Okla. – DePaul (Division I), Lynn (Division II), Grinnell (Division III), SCAD Savannah (NAIA), USC-Lancaster (NJCAA DI) and South Mountain CC (NJCAA DII) have been named Academic National Champions for their respective divisions announced the GCAA. DePaul posted the highest recorded team GPA with 3.66. A total of 106 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher and earned All-Academic Team recognition.

“Once again I am very happy for the guys,” said DePaul Head Coach Betty Kaufmann. “To win last year was an accomplishment, but to win back-to-back really says something about how important these young men feel about their education. This group has continued to work hard both in the classroom and on the course and it is great that they are recognized for their efforts.”

Alabama, Brown, Butler, Missouri and Yale were also accorded President’s Special Recognition status for earning team GPAs of 3.50 or better.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college of university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
