2018 USA Toyota Junior World Cup Teams Announced

NORMAN, Okla. – The boys and girls United States teams have been announced for the 2018 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup. The event will be held at Chukyo Golf Club’s Ishino Course in Toshitomo-cho Fukada, Toyota-shi, Japan June 10-15.

The boys team will consist of Jacob Bridgeman, Ryan Burnett, Reid Davenport and Michael Sanders. Central Alabama head coach Dave Jennings will coach the team. The Americans are looking to win their eighth overall and third straight Toyota Cup.

Bridgeman, an Inman, South Carolina native, is currently ranked 28th according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. He will be playing in his second International event. The two-time South Carolina High School State Champion has played in the Junior Presidents Cup and has been honored as an AJGA Rolex Second-Team All-American. Bridgeman is committed to Clemson University where he will study Mathematical Sciences.

Burnett, a native of Lafayette, Calif., was a 2017 AJGA Rolex Second Team All-American. Burnett is ranked 18th according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. The North Carolina commit has two top-five finishes and one top-10 finish in eight events played, this season.

Davenport is the captain of the Westlake High School golf team in Austin, Texas. He has obtained All-State academic and golf honors all four years of high school. Davenport is also a two-time AJGA Rolex Junior All-American. In 2017 he finished runner up at the Junior PGA Championship. Davenport is committed to play at Vanderbilt.

A Davidson, North Carolina, native Sanders is a two-time AJGA Champion. In 2017, Sanders was named AJGA Rolex Junior Second-Team All-American as well as USA Today First-Team All-American. This will be Sanders’ first time playing internationally. Sanders is committed to playing golf at LSU beginning this fall.

The girls team will consist of Hailee Cooper, Sadie Englemann, and Gina Kim. Central Arkansas women’s head coach Natasha Vincent will head the coaching duties for the team. Team USA looks to defend their 2016 and 2017 Toyota Cup titles.

Cooper, from Montgomery, Texas, has represented the United States in the 2015 PING Junior Solheim Cup in Germany and was a teammate of Kim at the 2016 Junior Ryder Cup, which was played at Interlachen Country Club in Minnesota. Cooper is committed to play at Texas beginning this fall. She is currently ranked 13th according to Junior Golf Scoreboard.

An Austin, Texas native, Englemann is currently ranked 10th by Junior Golf Scoreboard. Englemann has four wins in 14 events this season. The high school junior is averaging 5.73 under par so far this season. This will be Englemann’s first international event.

Kim represented the United States at the Evian Junior Cup in 2014. A Chapel Hill, North Carolina, native has also played in the 2016 Junior Ryder Cup where she teamed up with Cooper, the 2017 Junior Solheim Cup, and the 2017 World Junior Girls Championship. The Duke commit is ranked seventh by Junior Golf Scoreboard.
