Hammer Division I Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award Recipient

JOHNSON, Ark. – Cole Hammer of Texas has been named recipient of the Division I Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award.

A PING First-Team All-America selection, Hammer shared medalist honors three times this season, including the NCAA Austin Regional. He posted four additional top-five finishes and only placed outside the the top 20 twice in 11 tournaments. Hammer posted two victories thus far in match play at the NCAA Championships to lead Texas to the finals match.

Albin Begstrom of USF, Wake Forest’s Eugenio Chacarra, Texas teammate Pierceson Coody, and Georgia’s Trent Phillips joined Hammer on the All-Freshmen Team.
