Horsfield Division I Recipient of Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award
EUGENE, Ore. – Sam Horsfield of Florida has been named recipient of the Division I Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award.
Horsfield won three times this season, the Sea Best Invitational, Mason Rudolph Championship and Southern Highlands Collegiate. He competed in 13 tournaments for the Gators and carded eight top-five finishes. Horsfield’s 70.55 stroke average set Florida’s single season record. After tying for fifth at the SEC Championship, he was named First Team All-SEC and SEC Freshman of the Year. Horsfield was previously named PING First-Team All-America and was selected to represent Europe in this summer’s Arnold Palmer Cup at Formby Golf Club.
Will Gordon and Patrick Martin of Vanderbilt, California’s Collin Morikawa and Alabama’s Davis Riley joined Horsfield on the All-Freshmen Team.
