Bernard Division II Recipient of Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award

NORMAN, Okla. – Hugo Bernard of Saint Leo has been named recipient of the Division II Phil Mickelson Outstandng Freshman Award.

Bernard, from Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, tallied two victories this season, the Argonaut Invitational and NCAA Division II Championship. He finished fourth in four other events and only finished outside the top four twice. He recoreded par or better in 14 of his 24 rounds. At the NCAA Championships he carded rounds of 65-66-72=203 to claim medalist honors by two strokes.

Juan Jose Guerra of Nova Southeastern, West Florida’s Jacob Huizinga, Matt Hutchins of Chico State and Barry’s Niclas Weiland joined Bernard on the All-Freshmen Team.
