Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Barbasol NAIA Finalists Announced

NORMAN, Okla. – Five finalists have been named for the 2015 NAIA Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol. Sean Elliott of Dalton State, Johnson & Wales’ Peter French, Anthony Marchesani of Oklahoma City, William Woods’ Billy McKenzie and Coastal Georgia’s Alastair Tidcombe are finalists for the honor that will be presented by Jack Nicklaus at a ceremony during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Awards in 1988.

Elliott has two wins on the season. Additionally, he has four runner-up finishes and nine total top 10s. Elliott only finished outside the top 10 once this season in 10 events.

The Sun Conference Player of the Year, French posted three victories this season. He tallied an additional five top-10 showings. French was also named Johnson & Wales Athlete of the Year.

Marchesani tied for medalist honors three times during his junior season. The Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year, he has seven top 10s in nine events. Marchesani’s brother James was the 2015 NAIA Nicklaus Award recipient.

McKenzie carded two victories, including the American Midwest Conference Championship. Additionally, he had two runner-up showings. McKenzie did not finish lower than 10th in nine events.

Tidcombe won twice this season and recorded top-10 finishes in seven of eight tournaments. He was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. Tidcombe is currently the NAIA’s top-ranked golfer according to Golfstat.
