South Carolina-Aiken No. 1 in GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll
Defending national champion tops national rankingNORMAN, Okla. ?
South Carolina-Aiken?s men?s golf team is picking up this season right where left off lat season - atop the Division II GCAA/Precept Coaches. The defending national champion, South Carolina-Aiken received nine first-place votes.
West Florida checks into the poll at No. 2 and is followed by Chico State, Cal. State-Bakersfield and Armstrong Atlantic State. Cal. State-Stanislaus, Barry, UC-San Diego, Francis Marion and Barton fill spots six through 10.
St. Mary?s begins the second 10 while Hawaii-Hilo and Georgia College & State Univ. rank 12th and 13th, respectively. Coker checks in at No. 14 and is followed by Columbus State, Western Washington, Delta State, Cameron, Northeastern State and Pfeiffer.
Carson-Newman, Lynn and Rollins sit in a three-way tie for 21st. North Alabama and Florida Golf Coast round out the top 25.
The GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. Previous ranking reflects last season?s NCAA Championship finish.
