Chico State Stays No. 1 in GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Wildcats tally 12 first-place votes

Chico State earned 12 first-place votes to remain the nation?s top-ranked Division II men?s golf team in the GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll. The Wildcats have held the No. 1 spot the entire spring season.

 

Cal. State-Stanislaus moved up two spots to second and third-ranked West Florida who had one first-place vote. Cal. State-Bakersfield dropped two places to fourth. Armstrong Atlantic earned the only other first-place vote to rank fifth. UC-San Diego climbed two places to sixth and is followed by South Carolina-Aiken, Hawaii-Hilo and Francis Marion. Florida Southern moved up five rungs to reenter the top 10.

 

St. Mary?s dropped two places to No. 11 and is followed by Pfeiffer, Western Washington, Coker and Northeastern State. Carson-Newman - along with Barton (No. 17), North Alabama (No. 21), Barry (No. 24) and Lynn (No. 15) - is one of five previously unranked teams to enter the top 25 and is ranked 16th. Delta State dropped two spots to No. 18. Rollins made the biggest jump in the poll, climbing six spots to No. 19 while Central Oklahoma dropped eight spots to No. 20.

 

Georgia College and State University fell one spot to No. 22. Cameron took the biggest fall in the rankings, tumbling nine spots to No. 23.

Central Arkansas, Columbus State, Grand Canyon, Kennesaw State and Saint Martin?s were dropped from the rankings.

 

The Division II Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of Division II coaches and administrators that are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division II Precept Coaches poll will be released April 15.
