Chico State Continues Streak at No. 1 in GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Wildcats claim 13 first-place votes
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Chico State earned 13 first-place votes to remain the nation?s top-ranked Division II men?s golf team in the GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll. The Wildcats have held the No. 1 spot the entire spring season.

 

West Florida claimed two first-place votes to climb a spot to second. Cal. State-Bakersfield, who spent most of the fall in the top spot, also moved up on spot in the poll to third. Cal. State-Stanislaus dropped from second to fourth. Armstrong Atlantic stayed at fifth and is followed by South Carolina-Aiken, UC-San Diego, Hawaii-Hilo, Francis Marion and St. Mary?s.

 

Florida Southern fell one rung to fall out of the top 10 to No. 11. Western Washington came in at No. 13 while Carson-Newman, Northeastern State and Coker fill Nos. 12-15. Georgia College & State University (No. 16), North Alabama (No. 17), Lynn (No. 18) and Barry (No. 20) all climbed into the top 20 while Delta State dropped a rung to No. 19.

 

Barton (No. 21), Rollins (No. 22) and Central Oklahoma (No. 24) all fell from the top 20. Columbus State (No. 23) and St. Edward?s (No. 25) enter the poll after not being ranked in the previous top 25.

Cameron dropped from the rankings.

 

The Division II Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of Division II coaches and administrators that are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The final Division II Precept Coaches regular season poll will be released April 29.
