Westmoreland Takes Lead at The Patriot All-America Invitational

Litchfield Park, Ariz. – Kyle Westmoreland carded 1-under 69 to move to 4-under and the lead through two rounds at The Patriot All-America Invitational on the Gold Course at The Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Thomas Lim sits in second place at 3-under while first-round leader Tim Crouch, Toni Hakula, Hank Lebioda and Taylor Moore are two shots off the lead.

“It was a good day,” said Westmoreland. “I started off struggling a little bit. I missed a couple of iron shots right but fortunately was able to get a few up-and-down. Then I made a few putts and had a streak of good fortune. I missed a few and left a few out there but all-in-all it was good.”

Westmoreland began the day in second place, one shot off the lead. He bogeyed his first hole but was able to get back to 3-under with a birdie at No. 9. Westmoreland also bogeyed No. 12. A birdie on No. 16 moved him back to 4-under and propelled Westmoreland into the lead.

Playing collegiately at Air Force, Westmoreland has been a gallery favorite with the theme of the tournament and Luke Air Force Base neighboring The Wigwam.

Westmoreland commented, “I was telling one of the Rules officials out here that I can’t go three holes without someone coming up and saying ‘hey, I’m an Air Force guy.’ It’s great to have people like that. It does feel like a home game for me and it’s a great community. Them supporting me is huge and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Bryson DeChambeau’s 66 was the best round of the day. Alex Wunderlich and Cody Proveaux both had holes-in-one on the 170-yard, par 3 No. 16

Final round action will begin at 9 am off both the 1st and 10th tees.
