Butch Harmon Featured Instructor at GCAA and WGCA Conventions

NORMAN, Okla. – Butch Harmon, considered the game’s foremost teacher, will be the featured instructor at the GCAA and WGCA national conventions held Dec. 7-9 in Las Vegas. Also renowned as an author and commentator, Harmon has served as teaching instructor to 13 major champions.

“It is an honor for the Golf Coaches Association of America to have Butch Harmon join us as our featured instructor in December,” said GCAA President Conrad Ray. “He brings a wealth of knowledge that our member coaches can learn from in all areas of golf and especially in player development. His presence will add a tremendous amount to our convention and it means a lot that he is willing to give his time and expertise back to the collegiate game.”

"Butch Harmon is considered one of the preeminent golf instructors in the world,” stated WGCA President Amy Bond. "To have the opportunity for member coaches of the Women’s Golf Coaches Association to listen to and learn from the best is an opportunity that no golf coach should pass up. His participation makes our Convention a can’t miss in December 2015."

Butch Harmon has been involved in the golf arena for more than 50 years. His father, Claude Harmon, a renowned club and teaching professional and 1948 Masters Champion, introduced him to the game. Harmon followed in his father’s footsteps by playing on the PGA TOUR from 1969-71. In 1971, his final year on the PGA TOUR, Harmon won the B.C. Open. For 14 years running, Butch has been voted as the top instructor in a poll of his peers as conducted by Golf Digest.

Harmon is the President of Butch Harmon School of Golf, which is headquartered in Henderson, Nev., and also has golf schools in Dubai, Macau and Florida. Harmon also travels around the country playing in corporate and charity golf outings. Harmon is also the head of the Harmon’s Heroes Foundation, helping disabled war veterans thru golf. Harmon is a leading analyst for British Sky Broadcasting for the last 20 years and covers Masters, U.S. Open, PGA Championship, Players Championship, Ryder Cup and all world events. Additionally, Harmon has been a teaching instructor to several PGA TOUR pros, including currently Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Brandt Snedeker, Jimmy Walker and LPGA Tour Stars Natalie Gulbis and Suzann Pettersen. He has also worked with Steve Elkington, Davis Love III, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, Darren Clarke, Adam Scott, Fred Couples, Steve Flesch, Ben Crane, Justin Leonard, Stewart Cink, Mark Calcavecchia and Ernie Els.
