GCAA Announces Diversity Initiative
NORMAN, Okla. — The Golf Coaches Association of America has announced the formation of the GCAA Diversity Initiative. The Working Group has been working since the summer on several plans to further minority opportunity and bring young people to the game of golf.
The mission of the GCAA Diversity Initiative is to use the successful platform of college golf to increase opportunities, resources, and mentorship for its minority members, as well as introduce current college golfers to a career pathway in the game; and promote golf to future generations.
Additionally, St. John Fisher Head Golf Coach Robert Simms has been named a Director At-Large to the GCAA National Advisory Board and will chair the GCAA Diversity Initiative.
“We wish to increase minority opportunities in the game of golf,” said Simms. “This includes playing, working, and education in the golf industry. A more diverse group of those involved in the golf industry is good business for the entire world since golf is a worldwide game.”
Under the direction of Simms, the Diversity Initiative Working Group will feature a selection of coaches and friends of the game of golf.
