2020 Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award presented by Golf Pride Grips Announced

NORMAN, Okla. – The GCAA in conjunction with Golf Pride Grips today announced the six outstanding collegiate golf coaches receiving the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award presented by Golf Pride Grips.

Michael Beard of Pepperdine (Division I), Georgia Southwestern’s Darcy Donaldson (Division II), Jim Ott of Illinois Wesleyan (Division III), Keiser’s Brandon Miller (NAIA), Walt Williams of Midland College (NJCAA Division I), and Darin Pint of Kirkwood (NJCAA Division II) earned coach of the year honors for 2020. Golf Pride Grips Region and District Coaches of the Year were also named.

Beard helped lead the Wave to three team victories over the course of the 2019-20 season, while never finishing outside of the top five in their four other events. Pepperdine was also ranked #1 in the final Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of the season.

Georgia Southwestern posted four victories during the 2019-20 season under the direction of Donaldson. The Hurricanes also finished the year with three top-five finishes and closed out the year as the #1 ranked team in the NCAA Division II Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.

Illinois Wesleyan posted five victories in 2019-20 under the direction of Ott. The Titans claimed two runner-up finishes in their other two events of the season and were ranked #1 in the final five NCAA Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.

Keiser won five times this season under Miller’s tutelage. The Seahawks finished top three or better in all other events over the course of the year.

Midland posted four victories in 2019-20 under the direction of Williams. The Chaparrals claimed five runner-up finishes in their other five events of the season. Midland was also ranked #1 in the final two Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Polls of the season.

Pint helped lead Kirkwood to four victories in 2019-20. The Eagles also finished top-five in their other two events of the season and were also ranked number #1 in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches poll during the 2019-20 season.
