GCAA Hall of Fame Member Passes Away After Bout with Cancer

 

Former golf coach and Hall of Fame honoree, Howell ?Hal? Morrison, 78, passed away Saturday, July 14 after a long illness. 

Morrison is survived by his wife-Brandi, son-Mark, daughter-Connie, as well as by three stepchildren and six grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his son, Robert. 

Morrison coached at East Tennessee State University for 25 years and East Carolina University for nine years.  During his 25 years with the ETSU Buccaneers, Morrison led his teams to 6 NCAA Championship appearances.  At East Carolina, Morrison made only one NCAA Championship appearance, but finished his coaching career with 13 wins and seven CAA titles in his nine years with the program. 

Morrison was inducted in the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 1988 for his coaching achievements.
