Methodist Continues Run in Top Spot of GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Monarchs earn nine first-place votes
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Methodist grabbed nine first-place votes to remain the top team in Division III according to the latest GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. Following the Monarchs was Guilford with one first-place vote, Redland with two, Saint John?s (Minn.) with two and Oglethorpe with the last first-place nod.

Nebraska Wesleyan and Otterbein each jumped two spots up to numbers six and seven, respectively. Emory dropped two slots to come in at eighth. Central and Greensboro each climbed one rung to complete the top ten.

Huntingdon fell a single rung to eleventh while defending champion Gustavus Adolphus slid five spots down to No. 12. Texas Lutheran remained at No. 13, followed by La Grange and LaVerne. Saint Thomas flew up eight big spots to No. 16 while Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Franklin, Ohio Wesleyan and Washington & Lee round out the top 20.

Denison and Skidmore broke a tie for No. 21 with Denison holding the edge by a single and Skidmore sliding to No. 22. California Lutheran and Hardin-Simmons tied for 23rd. Previously unranked Randolph Macon closes out this week?s poll

 

Mary Hardin-Simmons, McMurray and Rhodes fell from the top 25 rankings.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released April 15.
