Methodist Retains No. 1 Slot in GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Guilford moves up to second
  

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Methodist can once again lay claim to the No.1 spot in the Division III GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll. The Monarch?s picked up 11 first-place votes. Guilford moved up a single spot to second.

Redlands climbed two spots to third and is followed by Saint John?s - who grabbed the other two first place votes - Emory and Oglethorpe. Otterbein (seventh) Texas Lutheran (eighth) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (10) all moved into the top 10. Defending national champion Gustavus Adolphus slipped seven spots to ninth.

Ohio Wesleyan and Greensboro fell out of the top 10 and landed at Nos. 11 and 12, respectively. LaVerne stood pat at No. 13 while Nebraska Wesleyan and Central College both dropped four spots. La Grange fell one rung to No. 16 while McMurry entered the poll at No. 17. Skidmore and Hardin-Simmons each moved up one spot to Nos. 18 and 19, respectively. California Lutheran and Denison tied at No. 20.

Saint Thomas and Southwestern each debuted in the poll, landing at Nos. 22 and 25. Mary Hardin-Baylor dropped one spot to No. 23 while Rhodes fell seven rungs to No. 24.

Allegheny, Averett and Rochester were dropped from the rankings.

The GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll will be released Nov 4.
