USC-Aiken Still No. 1 in Division II GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Pacers receive 13 first-place votes
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

USC-Aiken continued its streak as the top-ranked team in Division II men?s golf in the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The Pacers - who received 13 first-place votes - have been No. 1 in every poll since the final poll of the 2003-04 season.

 

The top three spots in the poll remained unchanged as Cal. State Bakersfield held on to the No. 2 spot and Rollins - who claimed a first-place vote - stayed at third. West Florida climbed five spots to fourth and is followed by Western Washington and Cal. State-Stanislaus. Armstrong Atlantic dropped from fourth to seventh, despite collecting the final first-place ballot. Florida Southern - up nine places to eighth - and Columbus State - from No. 13 to ninth - each moved into the top 10. Lynn dropped four rungs to No. 10.

 

Chico State and Central Oklahoma each fell one spot to Nos. 11 and 12, respectively. Cameron and Pfeiffer tied for 13th. Hawaii-Hilo tumbled from seventh to No. 15 and is followed by St. Edward?s, which made the biggest move in the poll from unranked to No. 16. Delta State, Washburn, Grand Canyon and Coker round out the top 20.

 

Three schools debuted in the lower portion of the rankings - Saint Martin?s (No. 21), Central Arkansas (No. 23) and Eckerd (No. 25). No. 23 Barry - down from 15th - and 24th ranked Northern Alabama complete the top 25.

Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Coll. and State Univ., Northern Kentucky and UC San Diego fell from the rankings.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Nov. 3.
