SEATTLE - The First Tee program held the sixth in a series of one-day events with The First Tee of the Greater Seattle Friday, April 22 at the Jefferson Park Golf Club, home of The First Tee of Greater Seattle. This event brought together collegiate players and their coaches with the youngsters from The First Tee in an effort to promote involvement between college golf and the next generation of players in the game.

The Greater Seattle chapter brought together more than 50 participants, ranging in age from 5-18. The juniors received instruction from the players and coaches focused on long and short game, putting, as well as a discussion on wellness. College coaches and players also conducted a question and answer session with each group.

Four University teams representing the men’s and women’s programs from the University of Washington and Seattle University participated in the event.

“The GCAA very much appreciates the efforts by everyone involved with The First Tee chapter from the Greater Seattle area,” said GCAA CEO Gregg Grost. “The enthusiastic participation by The First Tee participants, volunteers, student athletes and coaches all contributed to making this such a special event.”

“The opportunity for kids to interact with college athletes is fundamental to their own vision of their future. Being able to hang out, play golf and interact with student athletes from well known universities will only encourage our participants to continue their future at a university” said Shelby Lanting, Program/Volunteer Coordinator for The First Tee of Greater Seattle.

Fall 2011 event sites and dates will be announced during the summer. For further information please contact Gregg Grost, GCAA CEO, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
