GCAA Convention to be Held in Las Vegas December 7-9, 2009

NORMAN, Okla. - The GCAA announced that its next National Convention will be held December 7-9 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.  After surveying the membership following this past January's National Convention, the National Advisory Board (NAB) made a decision that moving the convention earlier in the school year was what the majority of the membership wanted.

As a result of input from the membership, the December 2009 convention will include additional edcuational breakout sessions, and will be held over three full days.  The Hall of Fame Awards Banquet, Corporate Partner's Exhibit Night, and GCAA Rules Workshop will continue as major aspects of the convention.

"The NAB recognizes during the challenging economic times we all face as coaches, wise decisions must be made regarding the costs of any event that we as an organization stage" said President Mark Crabtree. "The change of location earlier date in December provided the association the opportunity to secure significantly reduced rates on the recently renovated rooms at the Riviera Hotel & Casino."

The National Office researched numerous properties, and selected one would best be able to accommodate our convention needs while keeping expenses down for our membership.  In addition to the reduced room rates, proximity to McCarran International Airport will make it unnecessary for coaches to rent vehicles during the week.  As a result of the lower convention costs in Las Vegas, the national office anticipates being able to reduce the convention fee for the December 2009 Convention.

The schedule of events and speaker list will be developed and sent to the membership in the coming months.  Early registration forms will be sent to the membership not later than June 1.
