Ries Wins DII ARNOLD PALMER AWARD Presented by CALLAWAY GOLF

Christian Ries of Columbus State claimed the ARNOLD PALMER AWARD presented by CALLAWAY GOLF for Division II. The Palmer Award is presented annually to the national championship individual medalists.

Reis shot a one-over-par 285 to win the Division II national championship by six strokes. It was his first victory of the season. The senior from Somerset West, South Africa, finished tied for second at the Southeast Regional and in a third-place tie at the Peach Belt Conference Championship. He carded three additional top 10 showings on the year.

Notable past recipients of the award include Phil Mickelson (1992), Justin Leonard (1994), Tiger Woods (1996), Charles Howell (2000) and Ryan Moore (2005).
