Team USA Looks To Take Third-Straight World Junior Golf Team Championship
Cox, Stanley, Swafford, Volpenhein to represent America

NORMAN, Okla. ? Jordan Cox of Redwood City, Calif., Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., Hudson Swafford of Tallahassee, Fla. and Alex Volpenhein of Edgewood, Ky. will represent their country in the 2006 World Junior Golf Team Championship when it kicks off June 20 in Toyota City, Japan. The Americans are looking for a three-peat as Team USA wrapped up the 2004 and 2005 titles.

This year?s event will take place at the Chukyo Golf Club - the same club which saw the Americans come back from an early deficit to run away with the championship in the last day of the event last year.

"Anytime you get a chance to represent your country is an opportunity that you really want to take advantage of," Volpenhein said. Team USA will leave Los Angeles for Japan on June 15. Practice rounds and a sightseeing tour will take place before the tournament?s first round on June 20.

The players realize the attention - and added pressure - that comes with being two-time defending champions. However, the team does not believe this to be any sort of problem.

"We have a real good team," Stanley answered when asked if he liked the team?s chances. "A real good team." The trip represents a first opportunity for most of the team members to see Japan.

"My golf team played in England my sophomore year, but I?ve never had the chance to go to Asia," Swafford said. "I can?t wait."
