Oklahoma State Regains Top Ranking in GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Georgia drops to second

Aided by its record-breaking performance at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate, Oklahoma State has regained the No. 1 ranking in the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The Cowboys - who earned 18 first-place votes - were the top-ranked team in men?s college golf for much of the fall before Georgia overtook the No. 1 ranking for the last poll of the fall and first of the spring. The Bulldogs slipped to second with nine first-place votes.

 

Georgia Tech also fell one spot to third while New Mexico stayed at fourth. Both schools received one first-place vote. Auburn moved up one spot to fifth. Wake Forest made the biggest jump in the poll, climbing eight spots to sixth. Southern California came in at seventh and is followed by TCU, Brigham Young and Texas who dropped five spots to No. 10.

 

Arizona fell from seventh to No. 11 while Duke stood pat at No. 12. Michigan State jumped five spots to No. 13. UCLA dropped from the top ten, falling six spots to No. 14. Augusta State bumped up two slots to No. 15 and is followed by UNLV, Clemson and Florida. Kentucky took the largest drop in the poll, plummeting eight spots to No. 19. Kent State rounded out the top 20.

Georgia State remained at No. 21 while Washington, Arizona, Minnesota and Tennessee completed the top 25. The Huskies appearance at No. 22 is their first in the poll since Oct. 20.

 

Oklahoma fell from the top 25 for the first time this season.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division I GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released March 11.
