Four Players Named to U.S. Palmer Cup Team
Bray, Haas, Rubinson and Snedeker selected to compete for team USA

Four players - Bill Haas of Wake Forest, Dustin Bray of North Carolina, TCU?s Adam Rubinson and Vanderbilt?s Brandt Snedeker - have been named to the 2003 United States Palmer Cup team, announced the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The competition between the United States and their counterparts from Europe will be held July 7-11 at The Kiawah Island Club?s Cassique course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Haas was also a member of the 2002 squad. The four remaining members of this year?s Palmer Cup team will be named a later date. The 2002 ACC champion, Bray earned All-ACC honors in 2001 and 2002 and was named a PING Second-Team All-American last season. A junior from Asheboro, N.C., Bray captured the individual championship at the International Collegiate in St. Andrews, Scotland, and tied for medallist honors at the Ridges Intercollegiate. He has won three collegiate tournaments for the Tar Heals this season. This will be the second GCAA international competition for Bray who also competed in the 2002 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship.Haas, a junior from Greer, S.C., was a first-team PING All-America selection last season and earned honorable mention All-America honors as a freshman. A two-time All-ACC performer and 2001 ACC freshman of the year, Haas seen action in all 10 competitions in which Wake Forest has competed this season and has been the team?s top finisher six times. The only Deacon who has counted 100 percent of his rounds toward the team totals, Haas has won medallist honors in three tournaments this season and leads the ACC with a 70.55 stroke average. Currently riding a streak of eight straight rounds equal or under par, over 79 percent of his rounds have been par or better, including 10 rounds in the 60s.
Rubinson was named a PING Honorable Mention All-American in 2002 after finishing second at the NCAA Championships. A senior from Fort Worth, Texas, Rubinson is a two-time first-team all-conference performer, earning All-Western Athletic Conference accolades as a sophomore and All-Conference USA honors as a junior. He has finished among the top 20 participants in seven of the eight stroke-play tournaments TCU has competed in this season, including four top-10 placements. Champion of the prestigious Western Refining All-America Classic in El Paso, Texas, Rubinson carries a 71.04 scoring average this season
A senior from Nashville, Tenn., Snedeker became the first Vanderbilt golfer to earn PING All-America honors when he was named to the second team and became the first Commodore in the modern era to advance to the NCAA Championships as a junior. He also earned First-Team SEC honors in 2002. This season, Snedeker won three-consecutive tournaments and finished second and third in two other fall events to claim the nation?s No. 1 ranking by Golfstat and in the Golfweek/Sagarin Poll. The holder of several Vanderbilt records, Snedeker?s 69.16 average leads the SEC.
The U.S. team leads the Palmer Cup Series, 4-1-1, and has won all three matches in the United States. Georgia Tech?s Bruce Heppler will coach the U.S. squad.[[--banner:--]]
