Final Four Members Named to Palmer Cup Team
Hartwick, Mahan, Moore and Tomasulo added to U.S. squad

NORMAN, Okla. ? Texas? Jason Hartwick, Oklahoma State?s Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore of UNLV and California?s Peter Tomasulo have been named as the final four members of the 2003 United States Palmer Cup team announced the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The quartet will join Bill Haas of Wake Forest, North Carolina?s Dustin Bray, TCU?s Adam Rubinson and Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt when they compete against the European team July 7-11 at The Kiawah Island Club?s Cassique course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Georgia Tech?s Bruce Heppler will coach the U.S. squad.

A PING Third-Team All-America selection last season, Hartwick has finished in the top 20 in nine of the 10 stroke-play tournaments he has competed in this season, including a tie for first at the Puerto Rico Classic. The junior from Sacramento, Calif., has finished in the top 10 four times this season and has earned Big 12 Conference Golfer of the Month honors twice this season. A two-time All-Big 12 selection, Hartwick leads the Longhorns in scoring average and ranks second in the Big 12 (71.50).

Mahan, a PING First-Team All-American last season and second-team selection as a freshman, will be making his second appearance on the Palmer Cup team. The inaugural recipient of the Southern Golf Association?s National Amateur of the Month and Big 12 Conference Golfer of the Month for March, Mahan leads the Big 12 with a 70.95 stroke average. The McKinney, Texas, junior was named Big 12 Player of the Year and was named to the U.S. World Amateur Team in 2002. Mahan will be competing in The Masters Tournament in 2003.

Named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year and a PING Honorable Mention All-America selection last season, Moore has claimed four top-five finishes this season, including medallist honors at the Toyota Men?s Collegiate Championship. The Puyallup, Wash., native leads UNLV with a 70.50 stroke average. Moore was one of the most successful freshman golfers in Rebel history last season when he led the team in stroke average and top finishes en route to Mountain West Conference honors.

A junior from Long Beach, Calif., Tomasulo has finished under par in all nine tournaments he has competed in this season and has led California in scoring in six competitions. Tomasulo has finished in the top 10 in six tournaments this season and earned medallist honors at the Barona Collegiate Cup. As a sophomore, he became the youngest Cal player selected first-team All-Pac-10 and All-Pacific Region. Cal?s number one player each of the last three seasons, Tomasulo set a Cal freshman record with a stroke average of 73.19.

The U.S. team leads the Palmer Cup Series, 4-1-1, and has won all three matches in the United States.
