Bob Simms has served as the men’s golf coach at St. John Fisher since 2000, and was named women’s golf head coach in the summer of 2008. Simms also guided the Fisher baseball team from 1988-2000.

Under Simms, the 2012-13 Cardinals placed in the top 10 of the NCAA Division III Championship for the second-straight season (T-9th). During that season, Fisher earned its eighth Empire 8 crown in the last nine years and had four golfers named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team, including the region's freshman of the year. Two student-athletes earned GCAA Third Team All-America honors while Simms was a finalist for National Coach of the Year.

The 2010-11 men’s golf team earned seven first-place finishes in the fall, while winning the Empire 8 Championships. The following year, Fisher continued its supremacy, repeating as Empire 8 Champions and advancing to the NCAA Championship.

The women’s team, continuously improving, recorded six top-ten finishes in the 2010-11 sesaon.

In 2007-08, Simms guided the men to a third-place finish in the NCAA Division III National Championships, and was named as the National Coach of the Year. He was also instrumental in the development of the College’s first-ever National Champion Scott Harris Jr., who was a recipient of the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Award, and named the National Player of the Year after claiming a five shot victory in Braselton, Georgia.

Under the tutelage of Simms, eight players have received All-America honors, 14 have been named to All-Region teams, and the Cardinals, who have made showings in the NCAAs five out of the last seven years, have emerged as a contender on the national level.

Simms is a four-time Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and seven-time Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year who has led his teams to nine conference championships in the last twelve seasons.

Simms’ teams have won forty-seven tournaments, finished in the top twenty-five three times, and has been the top team in the Mid-Atlantic Region
four times.

Simms is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America, National Golf Coaches Association, Committee Member of the United States Golf Association, and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Simms, a LeRoy native and graduate of Batavia Notre Dame, holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from St. John Fisher College.
