Adam Mackey joined the GCAA as the Director of Communications in October 2021. In this role, he writes and distributes media releases; leads content management of social media and website accounts for the Association and multiple partnering entities; and coordinates information flow to the media and media relations, both domestically and internationally, for the Arnold Palmer Cup. He also serves as a staff liaison to select award and scholarship committees.

Originally from East Lansing, Michigan, Mackey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a Sports Journalism minor from Michigan State University in May 2019 and a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Purdue University in May 2021. While at Michigan State, he spent over two years as a Student Assistant in the Athletic Communications office and participated in the Spartan Marching Band as a trombone player from 2015 to 2018.

In addition, Mackey has worked as a Sports Information & Marketing Graduate Assistant at Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, Indiana, where he gained experience writing press releases, game recaps, strategic planning and implementation of social media and marketing initiatives, statistical coverage, and hands-on learning of numerous software invaluable to sports information operations. He has also spent time in the Spartan Ticket Office at Michigan State, where he became familiar with day-to-day operations of a Division I athletic ticket office, Paciolan software, donor-based priority seating, NCAA/Big Ten Conference regulations, and general accounting principles associated with collegiate athletics.
